July 10, Wednesday, 5:30pm, “Music in the Park: El Grande,” attitude fueled by rock and roll and punk ethics gives life to El Grande‘s original brand of ska. A fixture in the talented Portland, Maine music scene, El Grande has been playing shows throughout the Northeast for the past decade, winning over ska purists and skeptics of the punk scene. July 10, Wednesday, 6pm, “Humorist, Gary Crocker and the CIEE Band,” Gary Crocker, Maine Humorist, and the CIEE House Band are teaming up to support the Center for Grieving Children as well for a beautiful evening of music, conversation, community, and comedy! Gary, a born Mainer and Navy Veteran of Vietnam, has contributed to The Maine Event for the last four years on public television and does short humor segments on Wreathes Across America radio show every Friday morning. An avid outdoorsman, Gary is best known for his Maine-based comedy and his firm belief in the “healing power of humor.” Through his comedy, “Gary Crocker conveys a powerful message: Laughter heals.” The CIEE House Band is made up of employees of CIEE, a global company headquartered in Portland, Maine. CIEE annually provides study abroad and cultural exchange opportunities for 50,000 college and high school students from all over the world. The House Band plays a wide variety of cover songs spanning the past six decades for local, national, and international audiences. In 2018, the CIEE House Band was the winner of the Maine Academy of Modern Music Corporate Band Challenge.
