Feb 1, Friday, 7:30pm, “Imagine: The Beatles Solo Years,” a HOB Winterfest Event to benefit BHS Music On Friday, February 1 Biddeford native Joe Boucher brings his five piece band along with a classical string quartet back to the City Theater stage to present “IMAGINE – The Beatles Solo Years” to benefit the Biddeford High School Music Department. In 2017, Joe presented “Piano Men – The Music of Elton and Billy” to a sold-out house at Winterfest for the first annual BHS fundraiser. Joe (BHS Class of 1987) and his band have been performing Piano Men with symphony orchestras around the country since 2011 regularly playing to sold out theaters. They returned for Winterfest 2018 presenting their follow up show “Classic Rock” which they like to describe as “The WBLM playlist performed by rock band and orchestra”. They again were welcomed by a sold-out City Theater and were invited to play both Piano Men and Classic Rock at last summer’s La Kermesse Festival. This year’s concert will again feature rock band and classical musicians and, as with the past two years, will involve BHS Student musicians from the Chorus and Jazz Band. Feb. 2, Saturday, 6-9:30pm, “6th Annual Chocolate Benefit Spectacular,” this Chocolate Extravaganza rivals any dessert event you’ve experienced in New England! You can expect desserts like classic Maine Whoopie Pies and chocolate dipped candied treats to more exotic candies or chocolate-covered foods. Some items are all chocolate while others have just a hint of it. Feb. 2, Saturday, 7:30pm, “Comedian Juston McKinney,” not a newcomer to the spotlight. With a national career that started over 20 years ago as he was trying to hang up his badge and cutting his teeth in New York City on the weekends. That has led to an amazing career that has brought him back to his New England roots, settling back into New Market, New Hampshire with his wife and two boys while selling out theaters across New England and touring nationally. This year alone has worked directly with some comedy greats on philanthropy projects like Amy Schumer’s Blue Ocean Animal Rights Fundraiser that sold out in hours and also the SOLD OUT ‘Comics Come Home’ for the Cam Neely Foundation at TD Garden with Dennis Leary and Jimmy Fallon. Last January Showtime premiered ‘Unsportsmanlike Comedy’ hosted by Rob Gronkowski featuring Juston and a couple of other national acts with ‘Patriots Fever’. Justonhas been making his national mark for two decades now with 3 ‘Tonight Show’ appearances, TWO COMEDY CENTRAL SPECIALS, and writing credits that include TV favorites like Kevin James & Gary Valentine. Feb. 3, Sunday, 2pm, “Classic Film: Guys and Dolls,” based on the short stories of Damon Runyan, and with music and lyrics by the legendary Frank Loesser, the original production of Guys and Dolls opened on Broadway November 24, 1950, and ran for 1200 performances. The film version, starring Marlon Brando, Jean Simmons, Frank Sinatra and Vivian Blaine (recreating her stage role as Adelaide), had the highest box office gross of 1955. The film also features Stubby Kaye, B.S. Pully, Johnny Silver, and Sheldon Leonard. Guys and Dolls is a fable about gambling men, and the women who try to tame them. Set in the colorful world of New York’s Times Square in the mid-20th century, the flashy and witty Guys and Dolls is populated with gangsters and gamblers, thugs and mugs, missionary dolls and scantily clad showgirls, and one of the great musical scores in the history of American theatre, free/parking, admission and popcorn, Dunaway Center, 23 School Street, Ogunquit.
