Dec. 20-21, Thursday-Friday, 10am-5pm, “Season of Giving Arts Sale,” enjoy access to local artists and crafters all in one place, in a local “pop-up” juried arts and crafts sale with over 20 artisans represented, free, Brick Store Museum, 117 Main Street, Kennebunk. Dec. 20-23, Thursday-Sunday, 12-4pm/Thurs. and Sun, 12-8pm/Fri, 10am-4pm/Sat, “Festival of Trees,” come visit The Fourteenth Annual Festival of Trees at the Dyer Library and Saco Museum and get into the Holiday Spirit! The Festival of Trees is a community event to benefit the programs of the Dyer Library and Saco Museum. Dozens of dazzlingly decorated trees and wreaths based upon this year’s theme, “Children’s Tales and Holidays,” adorn the museum’s galleries, free, Saco Museum, 371 Main Street, Saco. Dec. 20-22, Thursday-Saturday, 7pm/Thurs.-Sat, 2pm/Sat, “Holly Star,” a young woman who barely makes a living as a puppeteer returns to Maine for the holiday only to get caught up in a mysterious treasure hunt involving her paintball-obsessed best friend, her tango-dancing grandmother and a childhood crush. Check out the trailer here ! Directed by Saco resident Michael A. Nickles during one of the coldest winter’s on record, HOLLY STAR was shot entirely in the Saco-Biddeford area, using recognizable and beloved landmarks as locations. The film stars Katlyn Carlson (Broadway-bound musical Be More Chill), Brian Muller (The Deuce, The Good Wife), Teya Patt (Fear The Walking Dead, Weeds), along with a bevy of very talented local actors, crew and extras. HOLLY STAR will be released in the United States, the UK and France in time for Christmas. We’ll meet under our education pavilion to learn about native owl species, their ecology, adaptations, and meet local representatives up close!
