“Christmas at Norlands: A 19th- Century Holiday Celebration,” Washburn-Norlands Living History Museum, Livermore

Dec. 6, Thursday, 5:30pm, “Tuxes & Tails, 2018,” an evening of giving-casino, live auction and dinner, formal or casual dress, Casino and Open Bar in the barn begins at 5:30 pm, followed by a gourmet comfort buffet dinner, auction, program, and entertainment by comedian Justin McKinny. Join us for an entertaining evening at the Stone Mountain Arts Center nestled in the foothills of the White Mountains, in Brownfield, Maine. The Stone Mountain Arts Center is a beautiful timber frame music hall. The evening will be filled with gambling at our casino tables, live auction, and a comedy show. A Spirited Christmas Carol,” Set in the 1940’s, a touring company of misfit performers get snowbound in a small town they’re supposed to perform A Christmas Carol in. With half the cast missing and a mismatched collection of costumes, props and set pieces, they attempt to perform the Dickens’ classic- even though off-stage shenanigans make it hilariously difficult. Dec. 8, Saturday, 11am-4pm, “Christmas at Norlands: A 19th- Century Holiday Celebration,” take a horse-drawn sleigh ride and tour the decorated Washburn mansion that dates to 1867. Other activities include a Washburn-inspired Christmas Stocking trivia scavenger hunt, 19th-century parlor games, stories, craft activities, lessons of the past in the one-room schoolhouse, and Norlands’ renowned wassail (hot mulled cider) and molasses cookies made on the woodstove. Soup available while supplies last ($). The new barn is open to visitors. Jan Gill of Livermore will lead “pop-up” caroling throughout the day with special guest Don Leblanc on the fiddle. A Cookie Walk fundraiser benefits the barn fund. For only $5, fill a bag with delicious homemade cookies to take home. Gift shop open.
