Feb. 26, Friday, 7pm, “Ain’t I a Woman!,” a celebration of Black History Month and Women’s History Month, a chamber music theatre work celebrating the lives times of four African-American women. The women celebrated during the performance include ex-slave and fiery abolitionist Sojourner Truth, renowned novelist and anthropologist Zora Neale Hurston, folk artist Clementine Hunter and civil rights worker Fannie Lou Hamer, $15, Gracie Theatre, Husson University, Bangor. Feb. 27, Saturday, 8pm, “Body Against Body,” returns to Bill T. Jones’s roots in the avant-garde with a program that revives and reconsiders the challenging, groundbreaking works that launched Jones and the late Arnie Zane, his partner and collaborator of 17 years. Feb. 27 and 28, Saturday and Sunday, 9pm/Sat, 6pm/Sun, “Ian Black Band,” rock, Ian Black was formed in 2012 with a purpose to write, compose, and arrange good music. Many of the songs feature the lyrics of Cheryl Hodgins who writes more lyrics in a month than does laundry. All music and several tunes are composed by Brady Harris who somehow juggles more balls than Bingo the Clown! Ian Black hails from the western shores of the North Sea who came to America in the early 70s.
