Beautiful Cobbosseecontee Lake in Monmouth, Maine

Located at the northern end of Cochnewagon Lake, amid lush agricultural land, is Monmouth, Maine. The rolling hills of Monmouth are noted for the production of high quality apples, as well as hiking locations. East Monmouth sets on Cobbosseeconte Lake, truly a boaters’ paradise. Likewise, Litchfield is a small commercial village located at the northern end of Woodbury Pond. Both towns are small, waterfront retreats–perfect for lakefront property destinations. Below are a few hikes found in these locales.

Mount Pisgah
A two-mile trail quickly ascends through the mixed hardwood forest to the summit of Mount Pisgah. “Pisgah” is Hebrew for a lookout or a place with a view. As a former, open pasture, the summit offers 360-degree views. On a clear day, Mount Washingto is visible. At the top, you’ll find a fire tower, which hasn’t been manned since the early ‘90s when the forest service began using plane surveillance. Use caution if you choose to climb the tower.
