Naples Causeway
A sidewalk spans from the village green, across the causeway and new bridge to the stoplight by Bray’s Brewpub, providing an easy and scenic walk beside Long Lake and Brandy Pond. Allow time to pause and watch the action from the causeway and to follow the sidewalk as it dips under the bridge along Chute River, the shortest river in the Sebago Lakes Region. Trail Access: Route 302, Roosevelt Trail, Naples. Degree of Difficulty: Easy.
Sebago Lake State Park
Along the shores of Sebago Lake and Songo River and through the mixed growth forest of Sebago Lake State Park, you’ll find five well-marked and relatively flat trails to hike, cross-country ski or snowshoe. The Wilderness Trail offers 3 miles of a quiet walk through the hardwood forest. The 1.5 mile Songo River Trail follows the meandering shoreline of the river. Other trails loop through the wooded areas of the park on the north shore of Sebago Lake. The Sebago Lake State Park provides all-season enjoyment for hikers, skiers and snowshoers. Trail Access: Park Access Road, Naples. Degree of Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
Jugtown Forest
This 5,000-acre working forest is owned by Hancock Land Company and open for responsible public access. The area is laced with over fifteen miles of trails for hikers, ATVers, bicyclists, horseback riders and hunters. By foot, explore the site of the original 1848 sawmill on Decker Mill Hiking Trail. Crooked River passes through this property. Do be aware that this is a working forest and some areas may be closed. Logging equipment always has the right-of-way. Trail Access: Ellen Drive off of Jugtown Plains Road, Naples. Degree of Difficulty: Easy
Holt Pond Preserve
Located on Grist Mill Road, off of Perley Road in Naples, the 400-acre preserve offers several hiking options. The trails are well marked and the path takes you through a mixed forest of birch, beech, hemlock and pine. A red maple swamp, hemlock grove, the Muddy River, and Holt Pond’s quaking bog are just some of the highlights of this delightful destination. The quaking bog is home to pitcher plants, orchids, leatherleaf, swamp rose, and many other unique plants. Pause frequently to enjoy the beauty of this space. Trail Access: winter parking on corner of Perley Road and Chaplin Mill Road, Naples; summer parking in parking area off of Grist Mill Road, Bridgton. Degree of Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
Bald Pate Mountain Preserve
This 486-acre preserve offers several well-marked trails, including a two-mile round trip leading through meadows and forest to the 1,000-foot granite summit. Scenic views are enjoyed from the top, where you’ll find a pitch pines growing in the fragile soil. The two-mile Town Farm Book Trail  connects Bald Pate Mountain with the Holt Pond Preserve. During the winter, cross-country ski trails groomed by Five Fields Farm, overlap portions of the mountain and require a fee. Trail Access: Route 107, South Bridgton; Fosterville Road (Town Farm Brook Trail). Degree of Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
Douglas Mountain
For a bird’s eye view of the Sebago Lakes Region, hike to the summit of Douglas Mountain and climb the tower, built circa 1925. A map at the top of the tower identifies the area lakes and mountains. On a clear day, you’ll enjoy a panoramic view from Mount Washington to Casco Bay. From the summit, a one mile nature trail loops through the woods. Plants and trees are labeled. Trail Access: Douglas Mountain Road, Sebago; parking fee. Degree of Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
