“Yellow Brick Road: A Tribute to Elton John,”  Moody Memorial Chapel, Fairfield

Feb. 20, Thursday, 7pm, “Maine Event Comedy,” Maine Event Comedy presents the hilarious Dawn Hartill. She’ll be joined by Mike Gray, Nic Dufault, Brendan Williams, Jake Jacobson, and James Swaka. Hartill hails from Lewiston and is a mom to three teenage boys. When she isn’t shopping at Shaw’s, she delights audiences of all ages by sharing her observations on life, marriage, and the experiences of trying to excel at motherhood. She won the 2016 Strand Cup Comedy Competition and has performed at ImprovBoston, Comix at Mohegan Sun, and Empire Comedy Club. Feb. 21-23, Friday-Sunday 7pm/Fri. and Sat, 2pm/Sat. and Sun, “MCPKids! High School Musical Jr,” the cast will perform the fully staged performance of High School Musical Jr. for the audience. Troy, Gabriella and the students of East High must deal with issues of love, friends and family while balancing their classes and extra curricular activities. Feb. 21, Friday, 7:30pm, “Yellow Brick Road: Tribute to Elton John in Concert,” Yellow Brick Road, A Tribute to Elton John, is a full concert tribute band. One night only, the Elton John tribute will perform as a trio! This is the same format Elton John performed with in the early 70’s! Hear Elton’s music performed as it was originally intended! Gerald Brann, Mark Kavanaugh and Kevin Ostrowski perform in the internationally performing tribute, “Yellow Brick Road a tribute to Elton John”. Feb. 22, Saturday, 8pm, “Bruce in the USA” The Worlds #1 Tribute to Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band,” called the “most powerful and intense Springsteen experience on the planet,” Bruce in the USA is more than just another tribute band. Feb. 23, Sunday, 2pm, “Christine Letcher,” soprano and pianist, and the band PUMA. Christine Letcher’s program will explore the mutual influences and borrowing techniques of French classical composers with American jazz musicians in the early-to-mid 20th century. The first half of the program will feature classical works for voice and piano by French Impressionist and Modernist composers Debussy and Ravel, among others. Feb. 23, Sunday, 7pm, “Dar Williams in Concert” Dar Williams has been called “one of America’s very best singer-songwriters” by The New Yorker. She’s released ten studio albums and authored four books including her latest, What I Found In A Thousand Towns, released in September. Known as much for her staunch progressive ideals as her raw acoustic energy, Williams has been captivating audiences with her sheer elegance and honesty in her folk-pop songwriting since the ’90s. Williams’ growth as an individual over her two-decade-long career has gone hand-in-hand with her evolution as an artist, touring along the way with such distinguished peers as Joan Baez, Patty Griffin, Ani DiFranco, Loudon Wainwright III, and Shawn Colvin among others. Opening Act: Lindsay Mower Lindsay Mower is a songstress from Maine. She writes her own music, featuring a fusion of jazzy, folksy and bluesy pop tunes. Feb. 25, Tuesday, 5:30pm, “Headlamp Snowshoe Hike,” join the Skowhegan AmeriCorps Outdoor Recreation Program (SAORP) for a refreshing snowshoe hike under the stars! Discover the contrasting beauty of snow and darkness as you meander along the Pinnacle Trail, which culminates at The Pinnacle. During this outing, SAORP coaches will share their expertise and offer tips for experienced and novice snowshoers alike. The hike will be a little over one mile with moderate changes in elevation. This trail is perfect for all ages and skill levels; it’s even pet-friendly! Don’t forget to bring poop bags and clean up after your pet!
