Sept. 5 – 6, Friday – Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., “Vitamin V: How Food Fought the Second World War,” Explore life, nutrition, and rationing on the home front in this exhibition featuring the Museum’s 1940s propaganda poster collection. The exhibit discusses both nutrition history as well as today’s food insecurity in Maine. Sept. 6, Saturday, 9:00 a.m., – 12:00 p.m., “Taylor, Frey, Leavitt House Museum,” The 1850 Taylor/Frey/Leavitt House Museum in Waterboro Center is an unspoiled dwelling with many original features. It will be open to the public free of charge, donations accepted, each Saturday morning from 9 to Noon through September 27th. The museum complex includes the period-furnished 1817 Deering Schoolhouse and a blacksmith shop. The barn and ell of the house contain antique cobbler, optician and barber shops.
