After a hiatus, she is now on tour with her new album, Pretty Bird; the exquisitely arranged songs are delivered with the kind of subtlety and nuance that can only come from a lifetime of heartbreak and triumph, $35/advance, $40/day of, Strand Theatre, 345 Main Street, Rockland.  FMI:  207-594-0070, www.rocklandstrand.com.

Apr. 13, Saturday. 6-9pm, “Farm & Forage Dinner Series,” a celebration of Maine and the wonderful selection of ingredients that come from the landscape of the midcoast and beyond. Each dinner is meant to capture the terroir of the seasons while incorporating choice ingredients preserved in seasons past. Each dinner highlights the many food producers who present their goods at the Saturday indoor farmer’s market, serving locals and those visiting from afar. Chef Frank works directly with these farmers to purchase the highest quality ingredients, selected in their peak season where flavor and nutrition are at their highest. A majority of the ingredients that are served during the dinner are purchased that morning and processed just hours before guests arrive for the meal. Again, this ensures fresh, wholesome ingredients will grace your palettes through the 4 courses provided, $45 per person for four courses, tax and gratuity not included, Belfast United Farmer’s Market, 18 Spring Street, Belfast.  FMI: www.ourtownbelfast.org.

Apr. 14, Sunday, 2pm, “Silent Movies with Live Piano,” don’t miss it as Jeff Barnhart breathes new life into selected silent short comedies and describe this age-old process to the audience. Barnhart, who is an internationally renowned pianist, vocalist, arranger, bandleader, recording artist, an ASCAP composer, educator and entertainer, turns his attention to performing live, era-appropriate piano accompaniment to classic silent films for this special fundraising event, $15/advance, $18/door, $10/student, Chocolate Church, 804 Washington Street, Bath.  FMI:  207-442-8455, www.chocolatechurcharts.org.
Apr. 15, Monday, 7:30pm, “Ying Quartet Spring Concert,” a program brimming with springtime joy. Tchaikovsky’s String Quartet, infused with lyrical themes and sprightly textures, bears the palpable spontaneity with which it was composed, the fruit of a burst of inspiration in 1873. With the second half comes an undisputed treasure of the chamber music repertoire — Schubert’s expansive String Quintet — containing one of the most glorious cello solos ever written, for which Ahrim Kim will join David Ying and the rest of the Quartet, $45, Studzinski Recital Hall, 12 Campus Road, Brunswick.  FMI:  207-373-1400, www.bowdoinfestival.org.
