Oct. 26-27, Friday-Saturday, 6-9pm/Fri, 9am-12pm, “Bethel Outing Club Ski Sale,” new and used winter equipment, clothing and gear can be bought and sold. Items include alpine and Nordic skis and snowboards, boots and poles, ski jackets and pants, gloves, socks, insulating undergarments, wind breakers, and fleece jackets and more. There are skates, hockey sticks, snowshoes, even some crampons and skins. The BOC is a non-profit organization that supports human powered sports with an emphasis on Nordic skiing. Oct. 26, Friday, 7pm, “Keys to the City-Dueling Piano Show,” the show consists of the “Keys to the City” stage set being positioned in the center of the room with all of the guests sitting “in the round” creating a Vegas Show atmosphere. The tables are placed in close proximity to the pianists so that camaraderie builds quickly as the show begins. Guests are encouraged to sing-along and enjoy the banter from the pianists as they perform skits, satirical sets and musical requests. Guests are encouraged to fill out request slips highlighting their favorite songs or artists and place them in the tip jars on the pianos. The pianists pull them and build sets from the musical requests. Oct. 27, Saturday, 1pm, “La Fanciulla del West,” the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning Met Opera Live in HD series is returning to the Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center for the 2018-19 season. Soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek sings Puccini’s gun-slinging heroine in this romantic epic of the Wild West, with the heralded return of tenor Jonas Kaufmann in the role of the outlaw she loves. Tenor Yusif Eyvazov also sings some performances. Baritone Željko Lučić is the vigilante sheriff Jack Rance, and Marco Armiliato conducts. Estimated run time: 3 hrs, 22 mins. Oct. 27, Saturday, 7pm, “Fiddle-icious,” have you ever heard 70+ fiddlers performing at the same time? Here’s your chance! Fiddle-icious is comprised of a diverse group of enthusiastic fiddlers and other musicians of all ages and all walks of life. The group’s music features tunes passed on from our Scottish, Irish, Quebecois, and Acadian ancestors. The primary goal of Fiddle-icious is to keep the tradition alive by sharing Maine’s musical heritage with the community. Fiddle-icious is led by Maine Master Fiddler Don Roy, a phenomenal fiddler who is hailed as a “living cultural treasure” here in Maine. Both Don and his wife Cindy grew up in French Canadian families where music was an integral part of their lives. They are steeped in the traditions that have been passed down from one generation to the next. Oct. 27, Saturday, 7:30pm, “Back to the ‘50’s-Mollyockett Singers,” imaginative, talented, and often very funny, the Mollyockett Singers perform a combination of upbeat songs, ballads and popular tunes in four-part acapella harmony, often called “barbershop” style. Back to the 50’s promises to be an evening of oldies but goodies. Director Simon Smith has worked with the chorus to bring a delightful memory of yesteryear to the Denmark Arts Center.
