Mar. 11, Friday, 7:30pm, “Schooner Fare,” Traditional songs, high spirits and Down East humor! Brothers Chuck and Steve Romanoff perform lively concerts to folks of all ages, singing such signature original songs as “Portland Town,” “Day of the Clipper,” “ We the People,” and “Scuttlebutt” with high spirits and their unique brand of Maine’s Down East humor. Schooner Fare has won unanimous critical praise over their 40 years for captivating harmonies and winning stage presence. Their 15 albums include traditional songs of North America, Ireland, and Britain as well as original songs on both contemporary and traditional themes. Mar. 12, Saturday, 7:30pm, “UUCB Concerts for a Cause: Ellis Paul,” Ellis Paul is an American singer-songwriter and folk musician. Born in Aroostook County, Maine, Paul is a key figure in what has become known as the Boston school of songwriting, a literate, provocative and urbanely romantic folk-pop style that helped ignite the folk revival of the 1990s.Not only has Paul won 14 Boston Music Awards, but he has published a book, played thousands of shows and released over 16 albums. His pop music songs have appeared in movies and on television, bridging the gap between the modern folk sound and the populist traditions of Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger.
