Dec. 18, Friday, 7pm, “The New Renaissance Singers: Silver Celebration,” the concert will kick off the group’s 25th anniversary year, and will includes classical pieces by Bach, Haydn and Rachmaninoff as well as contemporary arrangements and compositions celebrating the Christmas season. Dec. 19-20, Friday-Saturday, 7pm/Sat, 3pm/Sun, “The Nutcracker,” The Bangor Symphony Orchestra’s (BSO) annual production of The Nutcracker featuring the Robinson Ballet returns to the Collins Center for the Arts this weekend. This year, BSO Music Director and Conductor Lucas Richman will conduct the production for the first time, putting his stamp on Tchaikovsky’s beloved masterpiece. The story of The Nutcracker unfolds on Christmas Eve and follows the young Clara as her toy Nutcracker springs to life in a holiday dreamland. 45 musicians, 40 dancers, and 38 choristers are involved in this year’s production. The cast includes Haley Williams, a UMaine sophopmore, returning as Clara, with her brother Nathan Williams again portraying Fritz.
