164th Annual Fryeburg Fair in the Sebago Lakes Region of Maine: A True Classic
by Leigh Macmillen Hayes
In 1851, local farmers formed the West Oxford Agricultural Society and began a tradition of showing off their produce and animals in Hiram. By 1858, the fair relocated to Fryeburg, where it has remained ever since.
The tradition continues today as the fairgrounds come alive and magically transform into Maine’s Blue Ribbon Classic: The Fryeburg Fair.

Enjoy big name talent, contests, amusement rides and midway games, plus more food vendors than you can possibly visit in a lifetime. There’s harness racing, a farm museum and oxen and horse pulling contests. The Grand Parade is on Saturday. And 4-H club members compete in demonstrations throughout the week.
