Sept. 19, Saturday, 11am-12:30pm, “Penobscot River Flotilla,” is for paddlers of all ages and are encouraged to float your canoes or kayaks in support of the Penobscot Nation and the Penobscot River, this event highlights the continuing struggle for Penobscot Sovereignty and seeks to inform the public of the need to maintain the river’s status as a sustenance river, there is a court case pending that has been brought by the State (Penobscot Nation v. Mills) that is threatening the sustenance designation of the river, the best put-in is from the Brewer River Front Park, off Hardy St. Paddlers will congregate near the Bangor Waterfront, toward the Chamberlain Bridge.
