Sept. 3, Thursday, 7pm, “Everyman,” one of the greatest primal, spiritual myths, presented by National Theater Live, BAFTA winner and Academy Award® nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave) takes the title role in this dynamic new production of one of English drama’s oldest plays, directed by the National Theatre’s new Director Rufus Norris (Broken, London Road). Everyman is successful, popular and riding high when Death comes calling. He is forced to abandon the life he has built and embark on a last, frantic search to recruit a friend, anyone, to speak in his defense. Sept. 5, Saturday, 9am-1pm, “9/11 Heroes 5k Run,” the Travis Manion Foundation will host a 5K race in Bangor to unite the community to remember the sacrifices of the heroes of the September 11th attacks and in the wars since. In its seventh year, the 9/11 Heroes Run will put on a series of races in more than 50 locations across U.S. and abroad. The Bangor 9/11 Heroes Run 5K race will take place at Bangor Water Front, on September 5, 2015 at. 0900. There will also be a family-friendly 1M fun run/walk. A portion of the proceeds from the race will benefit the Travis Manion Foundation, which offers veterans and families of the fallen unique opportunities to help them take the next step in their journeys and accomplish their personal and professional goals. This is a time to reaffirm old ways and share in the discovery of new. To our Elders we extend a special welcome, our children look to you for the lessons and examples in how to carry ancient memory, traditions and culture into our modern world. There are no “Spectators” at a Pow-wow. All whom attend are regarded as participants each of us has a place in the circle of people. Within the circle there is no beginning and no end.
