Adorable Year-Round House on Pristine David Pond in Fayette, Maine
A delightful lakefront home is for sale on David Pond in Fayette, Maine. Located at 331 Sandy River Road, the house and property offer low maintenance from the get go.
A paved driveway off the town-maintained road leads to this year-round house. Inside, you’ll find tongue and groove pine paneling throughout. The kitchen and living room are open and a cut-out to the sun room provides light and
vast views of the pond. The house features
one-floor living with two bedrooms plus a full bath located within the 860 square feet. It’s clean, in excellent condition and waiting for you to move in. That sun room wants to be your relaxing spot.
The home offers a beautiful view of the cove. It sits only thirty feet from the water on a lot that gently slopes toward the pond. A side deck is the perfect place to kick back and read a book. Also on the property, which is only
.19 acres, is a fire pit and outbuilding meant for storage. And at the water’s edge — a dock.
Are you getting a feel for the
low maintenance part of this deal yet? Small house. Small lot. Move-in ready. It has a standing-seam metal roof, vinyl siding, newer tilt-in windows and insulation. Wow, that does all add up to low maintenance. Extremely low.
Hop, one of the current owners, says that they purchased the property in 2003. “Living on David Pond has afforded us to meet the
most wonderful neighbors and now, long time friends.” Another favorite — the view of the sunsets.
At 297 acres, the pond is the largest of three that form a triangle in Fayette, with the other two being Tilton Pond and Basin Pond. David Pond is quiet and tranquil, because it’s considered a private pond and
only those who live there are allowed to use the private boat launch.
“Daily kayaking on the calm waters and floating on our noodles are some of our special times,” says Hop. “ Watching the loons fish and feed their young is a beautiful sight. Kayaking two miles to the other end and
portaging to Basin Pond is quite spectacular. Catching over a hundred bass every summer was quite an event . . . It is by far the best bass fishing anywhere. If you can’t catch a bass here, you can’t catch a bass.” Enough said.
Besides the pond, there are plenty of other opportunities to play. “In the winter time, you can
access snowmobile trails right from the house,” says Hop. “A bonus is that there in not a house across from us, but there is pure wildlife. Here is a list of wildlife that we have seen; deer, loons, great blue heron, pileated woodpeckers, mink, muskrat, beaver, osprey, eagles, and a once in a lifetime sighting of a Canada lynx in the winter time. Sugarloaf is only one hour away for skiing or hiking. Hiking the Parker Pond Headland Trail from our door is very convenient and peaceful.”
The only reason they are selling this delightful little place is that they wanted to build a garage but the setback from the water was too close.
I feel frequent road trips in your future. It’s only just over three hours from Boston and just over one hour from Portland, so
pack your bags, throw your kayak on the roof rack and don’t forget your fishing rod. Now’s the time to make this adorable camp on Davis Pond your getaway destination.
