April 5, Saturday, 8:00 p.m. showtime, “Carol Noonan’s Record Pre – Release Show,” so come see Duke, Kevin and I in concert and your ticket will automatically pre-order my new album at the same time, lots of us are coming up with all kinds of ways to raise recording money without record companies these days, this is my way, I figure if you are going to pre-order an album that is not even out yet, you ought to get a concert out of it too, what’s the album about, when I was growing up, there was one album that probably influenced me the most….its not a very famous one….but it has shaped a lot of my style and song writing, it was called Reflections in a Crystal Wind by Richard and Mimi Farina, they were a fleeting duo of the sixties folk scene who’s musical life was cut short when Richard Farina suffered a fatal motorcycle accident, their love story was also cut short, and it was that love that made their three years together musically so impressionable on me, as a kid, I didn’t care about their lyrics or politics….it was the melodies that I was drawn to … the beautiful minor melodies, I am sure it is how my own future songwriting was being shaped at the time, their sound was different than their peers at the time…kind of rockish and traditional at the same time, colored by the unique way they played together, years later I would understand more about the life and times they were singing about, $25 per person concert only, $50 per person concert plus, Stone Mountain Arts Center, 695 Dug Way Road, Brownfield.
