“Marathon Reading of ‘The Wizard of Oz'” Farnsworth Art Museum, Rockland

March 29, Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., “Marathon Reading of L. Frank Baum’s The Wizard of Oz,” by the Everyman Repertory Theatre, a marathon dramatic reading of the unabridged novel The Wizard of Oz, written by L. Frank Baum, in a non-stop, day-long reading, company members will bring the book to life through dramatizations and narration, despite the fact that L. Frank Baum’s novel, first published in 1900, is one of the most popular stories in America, relatively few people have actually read the book. Listeners expecting rainbows, Munchkin songs, and wicked witches with burning brooms will get some of those things, but will also find a complex country populated with mocking Hammerhead men, dainty people made out of china, and fierce monsters with heads of tigers and bodies of bears, Dorothy and her companions – Toto, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodsman, and the Lion – each seeking his or her heart’s desire still wander through Oz, free event, Farnsworth Library, Farnsworth Art Museum, 16 Museum St. Rockland.
