Lakehouse of Your Dreams on Pocasset Lake, Wayne, Maine

Contemporary Lakefront House Nestled in Woods on Pocasset Lake, Wayne, Maine

The lakefront property of your dreams awaits on Pocasset Lake in Wayne, Maine. Located at 164 Lord Road, this stunning, rustic, contemporary 3,560-square-foot house is beautiful, well maintained and updated.

Like Patrick and Patty, the current owners, we’re sure you’ll fall in love with the house and the lake when you see this property. The house is set up to accommodate a large group without feeling crowded. “We have had over 100 people for parties and have slept as many as thirty something!” exclaims Patrick.

The house features four bedrooms and 2.5 baths. On the first floor, the expansive living and dining rooms are separated by a twelve-foot-wide fieldstone fireplace. An open concept kitchen and second eating area feature windows that are almost floor to ceiling, bringing the outdoor setting in. 1123714_15

A great room on this floor looks like a church, with its arching wooden beams. Patrick tells us that taking a nap in there is heavenly. Toward the back of the great room is a wet bar. The waterside rooms offer great views of the lake. Two bedrooms with a shared bath between and another half bath complete the first floor.

Two more bedrooms, including the master suite, are located upstairs. The large master suite features a cathedral ceiling, seating area with wood stove and master bathroom.1123714_31

And that’s not all. In the finished basement, you’ll find storage rooms plus a large family/game room. The current owners have foosball and billiards tables set up there, with plenty of space to move around both. The laundry area is located in the passageway between the house and the two car garage.

Outside, you’ll find a hot tub–can’t you see yourself relaxing under the stars with family and friends? The wooded lot is relatively flat. At dock system provides plenty of space for boats, anglers and sunbathers. The sunset views from the dock are spectacular.

Pocasset Lake encompasses 605 acres and has above average water quality.  Patrick says that one of the reasons they purchased this property in 2005 is because there is “NO PUBLIC ACCESS AT ALL and no jet skis. It is a closed lake. No one, and I mean no one, that doesn’t live on this lake can put a boat in. Coming from Maranacook, this lake is a dream. Super water quality and with kids it is so nice to always be able to find them. They have complete freedom on the lake. No crazy jet skis. We swim across the lake a least once a week and we can do that because there are hardly any boats and no jet ski worries.” Patrick also says that it’s dreamy to just hang out on the dock.

Wildlife is another draw. “We love to fish,” he says, “so are out on the lake a ton. We catch bass, perch and sunfish. We also catch turtles with the kids. The loons love our dock and come by daily. There are osprey and now there are bald eagle nests all over the lake. They swoop by us on the dock. So cool. There are also otters in the lake. We pop into Pickerel Pond daily. To kayak into there is magical. So many amazing birds and you feel like you are alone in the world. It’s so peaceful and calm.” In Pickerel Pond, with permission you may camp on a private island.

Wayne is a quintessential New England village with two churches, a library, general store and specialty shops on Main Street. It is one of the prettiest villages in Maine. Set on the northwest shoreline of Androscoggin Lake and south of Pocasset Lake, some describe it as an “Interlachen” village. Patrick says, “We kayak or paddleboat daily to the general store for lunch and to jump off the bridge. We also take the small boat and go to the Wayne dam to do the rope swing.”

Patrick and Patty are selling for financial reasons only. “Our kids are sick to sell this house. It is their favorite place in the world to be.” That’s totally understandable since they’ve made lifelong friends through the beach association.

It is said of Pocasset that “he who comes once to the lake, invariably comes again.” Let that be you! Purchase this house where you can make your own lifelong memories and dream of returning every day that you must be away.
