Lakefront Bungalow/Cottage on Middle Range Pond, Poland, Maine: It’s All About Living on Easy Street

Lakefront bungalow nestled among trees on Middle Range Pond, Poland, Maine

Lakefront property on Easy Street–sounds too good to be true. But it is true and could be yours when you purchase this three bedroom bungalow/cottage at 26 Easy Street on Middle Range Pond in Poland, Maine.

Park up above and walk down a few steps to the house or come down the tarred driveway to the back door. Upon entering this 1,577 square-foot house, you’ll be in the open concept kitchen and living room. The eat-in kitchen was recently updated. Large windows allow plenty of light to filter through both rooms. A wood stove in the living room helps take the chill of a cool morning or evening. Sliding glass doors lead from the living room to the deck. On this main floor are two bedrooms and a bathroom. The master bedroom also has sliding doors opening to the deck.

Step downstairs to the finished basement, which features a huge family room with wood stove, plus another bedroom and a utility room. The family room is perfect for those who want to play games while others can read in the peace and quiet upstairs. Outside the basement, you’ll find yourself under the upper deck. The space could easily be turned into a covered patio.
This sweet and immaculate 1950s bungalow/cottage is situated on a private lot with plenty of room to play. The lot is long and narrow at 50‘x100’, but a buffer of trees line both sides. And the current owner, Janice, describes the neighbors, Jack on one side and Roland on the other, as great. In addition, it’s located on a private road, but isn’t far from all the activity of Route 26.
Janice and her husband purchased the property in 1987. Two things that drew them to it were the flat play area between the cottage and the lake, and the gradual beach. Though the property is sloped at the back end, it flattens out on the lake side of the house. Think games of badminton or croquet, with breaks to take a dip in the water. Janice has fond memories of sitting on the deck and watching the kids play without missing any of the action on the lake.
The location is ideal for those who plan to make their vacation all about the water. The 50 feet of water frontage includes a sandy beach and dock. Janice says, “The cottage has been a super getaway. The lake is excellent for fishing and water sports. We watched our two daughters enjoy the lake water sports and during the winter with ice skating, sliding and snowmobiling.”
Middle Range Pond is the second in a chain of three, covering 382 acres, with a maximum depth of 65 feet and a mean depth of 29 feet. It’s pristine and has above average water quality. That in and of itself, is reason to own this property. Janice comments, “Middle Range has no rocks or obstructions unlike other lakes including Upper Range. It has no underwater stumps like Thompson or Tripp. It’s 65-feet deep and great for fishing. Early morning kayak rides are the best.”
On the fourth of July, you can sit on the deck or beach and enjoy the spectacular fireworks show provided by Poland Spring Resort, located across the pond.
So . . . are you thinking what I’m thinking . . . in no time at all you’ll be sipping your coffee on the covered deck rain or shine. If the sun is shining, you can watch its rays dance across the water. Then take a morning dip in the clean water of Middle Range Pond. Play a round of golf at Poland Spring, followed by cocktails on the deck and another dip in the lake. Next you’ll fire up the Weber grill for dinner, which you’ll dine on outdoors, of course. And finally, you’ll relax in the Adirondack chairs down by the fire pit–roasting marshmallows, sharing tall tales and listening to the loons call back and forth.
As Janice says, “You can tell your friends you made it to Easy Street!”
