Looking for a lakefront fixer-upper? Look no more. We have several on the market that may entice you.
Some people run when they see a fixer-upper, but others welcome the chance to channel their inner creativity. A fixer-upper can be an opportunity for you to snag a place on a lake you like. With your investment of time and money for renovations you can create the space you want. The end result–a like-new home worth more than you paid for it.
Whether you are a DIY enthusiast or need the help of a local contractor, a lakefront house that needs a little TLC might be a great fit for your budget. Take a look at these properties and see if any of them whet your appetite.

The first is located on Pequawket Lake, aka Horne Pond in Limington. The 816 square-foot, three bedroom/one bath house needs some attention. But it also has some good features. Across the front of the house is a screened porch only ten feet from the water’s edge. And the lot includes 162 feet of lake frontage.
Located at 39 Yamaha Way, the house was built in 1950. It has a leaky roof and there is some swelling of doors, but with a little elbow grease and sweat equity, this might be the right place for you. And there is still potential for a 30% expansion. From the outside, it has that Maine camp look. Unwind, rewind and make memories at this camp on Pequawket Lake.

The second property you might consider is on Sebago Lake in Casco. Located at 190 Lakewood Road, it’s a 600 square-foot chalet built in 1971. And it retains that retro look on the inside. Maybe retro is what you are seeking–if so, you’ll definitely dig the orange metal, freestanding fireplace with its inverted space-age cone shape.
The walls throughout the five-room house are paneled, some painted. With two bedrooms and one full bath, there is opportunity to increase the building by 30%. The house also has 80 feet of water frontage, a boat dock and a small sandy beach, making the lake easily accessible. Though it needs some work, it has great bones. A boat house sits by the water’s edge. Across the street, there is a wooded lot that adds to the seclusion of the lakefront house. And the best news: The price has been reduced. It won’t take you long to experience lakefront living once you purchase this house.

Finally, we have a property on Lake St. George in Liberty for you to consider. In this case, there are two buildable lots at 20 Oak Street. Currently, a 14 x 70-foot mobile home with an additional shell that runs the entire length sits on one of the lots. It features two bedrooms and bathrooms.
The level lots share 160 feet of water frontage. A septic system has been installed on each lot and there is a well on one of them. You might think about living in the mobile home while you construct a new home. Or build a new home on the second lot, creating an income property. Whatever you choose to do with the abutting lots, just remember that Lake St. George is one of the cleanest and clearest lakes in the state. It’s rated second in Maine for its above average water quality. This beautiful spring-fed, crystal clear, mountain lake is the perfect place to spend some well-deserved vacation time.
So . . . don’t shy away from a fixer-upper. It may need work, but you can put your own mark on it. In the end, you’ll be able to enjoy a piece of your favorite lake at a reasonable price.
