Retro Look in Swiss Chalet on Sebago Lake in Casco, Maine

Sandy Beach at Lakefront Property on Sebago Lake in Casco, Maine

Step into this wood-framed Swiss chalet at 190 Lakewood Road on Sebago Lake in Casco, Maine and you’ll take a step back in time. Built in 1971, the 600 square-foot lakefront home features a retro flavor.

The house has five rooms, including a living room, kitchen, dining area, bedroom and bath on the first floor. The second bedroom is located on the second floor. The furniture is included. In the corner of the living room, you’ll find a metal, freestanding fireplace with its inverted space-age cone shape. The walls throughout are paneled, some painted. A full basement is convenient for storage space.
The waterfront home sits on the northeast side of the lake and faces west, thus sunsets are exquisite, with no two being the same. Sit on the outdoor deck or pull an adirondack chair down to the water’s edge to enjoy the view. You’ll probably want to eat most of your meals outside to enjoy all that nature has to offer at this special place.
The owners, who are selling because they are realizing their limitations in maintaining a “summer” property as well as another home, tell us that, “the view of tree covered islands is quite “Maine Woods” during all seasons. The property looks out at the Dingley Islands.
An easily accessible beach and dock make this the perfect place for swimming and boating. Says one of the owners, ”The thing I always liked the most was being able to run down the dock, and take a bounding leap off the concrete block at the end into the water.”  A boat house sits by the water’s edge. Across the street, they also own a wooded lot that adds to the seclusion of the lakefront house.
The water of Sebago Lake, Maine’s second largest lake, is one of its best features. The Indian name, “Sebago,” means “Great Stretch of Water.” This water stretches eight miles wide and twelve miles long. At its deepest point, the water depth is 316 feet. The water quality is above average and it supplies drinking water for the City of Portland, thus the southernmost portion of the lake is restricted to any boating or swimming.
Once on the water, you’ll have so many places to explore from Jordan Bay to the Songo River and on up to Brandy Pond and Long Lake.
Over the years the owners’ family has enjoyed this lakefront property and the surrounding area. There are plenty of scenic places to visit in the area for hiking, plus several golf courses, shopping malls and restaurants. It is also only a 30 minute drive to Portland, which offers a good variety of city attractions, such as sports arena events, shopping, restaurants and transportation to other places by air, sea and rail.
If you are in the market for a cute little camp with a retro flare, 190 Lakefront Road in Casco, is your place. Imagine yourself enjoying a morning cup of joe on the deck or playing a board game in the afternoon as the fire light flickers in the corner fireplace.
