Damariscotta Lake, Newcastle, Nobleboro and Jefferson, Maine: Miles of Exploration Opportunities for Lakefront Property Owners
February 24th, 2011 categories: Belgrade Lakes Region
Sunset on Damariscotta Lake in Midcoast Maine
Lakefront property on Damariscotta Lake in Midcoast Maine is the perfect place to rejuvenate and enjoy a respite from the busyness of life. This 14-mile long, narrow lake covers 4,381 acres and has 45 miles of undulating shoreline. With its three basins this is the largest lake in Lincoln County.
Great Bay, the north basin, is the widest part of the lake at a mile and a half across. Here the water deepens quickly to 110 feet. The water depth of the middle basin is 46 feet and the southern basin is 34 feet. Water quality is listed as stable for Damariscotta Lake, but it is slightly below the state average.
Surrounded by pine, hemlock and oak trees, even in the busiest time of summer you’ll find seclusion here when you spend time at your cottage on the waterfront. Imagine yourself sipping your first cup of coffee in the morning while rocking to and fro on the porch, swaying in the hammock under pine trees as you take an afternoon siesta or sitting in an Adirondack chair on the dock enjoying the sunset.
This idyllic lakefront setting is located near the villages and hamlets of Jefferson, Nobleboro, Newcastle, Washington and Somerville. Many classic Maine towns are only a short drive away. Fine galleries, antique shops, restaurants, shopping and museums are nearby. And you’ll be only an hour from Portland and three hours from Boston.
Nurture yourself in the natural setting of Damariscotta Lake in Midcoast Maine.
