Sebago, Maine, Located on Pristine Sebago Lake’s Western Shore

Sunset over Sebago Lake’s crystal clear waters
Located on the western shore of Sebago Lake, several small villages make up the town of Sebago. Here the forested hills are interspersed with farmland. And you can easily enjoy the tranquility of the lake punctuated by the cry of the loon. In some ways, this is the town that time forgot, yet it’s not far from amenities.

The Northwest River flows out of Peabody Pond to Sebago Lake, bisecting the town. Sebago Lake is the original home of land-locked salmon in Maine. Lake trout and bass are also plentiful here. Other water sources include Hancock Pond, Southeast Pond, Barker Pond and Woods Millpond. Sebago Lake is a vast 47 square miles. It’s perfect for swimming, boating and fishing. If you want to explore the lake and don’t have your own boat, consider renting from either Sebago Lake Marina or Long Beach Marina. Sebago Lake Marina offers a private boat ramp and pontoon rentals.  Long Lake Marina offers ski boat, pontoon boat, jet ski, waterski, kneeboard and tube rentals. Reservations are required in advance.Douglas Mountain offers a spectacular 360° view. The summit is 1,146 feet above sea level. On a clear day, from the fieldstone tower built atop the mountain by Dr. William Blackman in 1925, the panoramic view includes the White Mountains and Atlantic Ocean. Mom and Pop stores are the norm in Sebago. Both Richard’s Dairy Delight, an ice cream shop and Gemmes General Store, with its lunch counter and groceries, are seasonal shops. Jordan’s Store is owned by the Cutting family. They offer the best take-out pizza in the area, plus a deli, groceries, hunting and fishing licenses, bait and free fishing advice from Carroll Cutting, the local expert. Four Seasons Variety also has a lunch counter and groceries.
There are two summer camps in Sebago. Camp Micah, on the Sebago/Bridgton town line, is a traditional Jewish co-ed residential camp located on Peabody Pond. Camp O-At-Ka is a traditional boys camp located on Sebago Lake.
Sebago Days, always the third weekend in July, brings residents and tourists together for an old-fashioned celebration.
At 105 miles of shoreline, Sebago Lake offers hours of exploration. While you are here, take a break and spend some time on land exploring waterfront property.
