Feb. 20, Thursday, 12pm, “An Authentic Mess: Dispatches form the Beauty Battlefield,” written by and starring Orlando-based actress Lily E. Garnett, “An Authentic Mess: Dispatches from the Beauty Battlefield” is a 60-minute comic drama that combines autobiography with storytelling to explore self-image, social conditioning, beauty standards, and how society values people, particularly women. Feb. 21-23, Friday-Sunday, 7:30pm/Fri. and Sat, 2pm/Sat. and Sun, “PUFFS, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School for Magic and Magic,” for POTTERphiliacs who grew up alongside Potter and are eager to revisit that world, PUFFS exudes a jovial, winking fondness for all things Harry! This clever and inventive play never goes more than a minute without a laugh (Nerdist) giving you a new look at a familiar adventure from the perspective of three potential heroes just trying to make it through a magic school that proves to be very dangerous for children. Feb. 22, Saturday, 10am-2pm, “February Foraging: Looking Ahead-Sweet Water,” Maine Master Naturalist Larry Beauregard shares his tree knowledge and enthusiasm to get you ready for the upcoming pleasure of harvesting sweet tree waters and how to turn them into syrup. With additional support of Maine Master Naturalist Gudrun Keszöcze you prepare necessary equipment and start your Tree ID booklet. Feb. 23, Sunday, 6pm, “Owl Walk,” here is your chance to explore the forest at night in the safety of a group! We will hone our listening and observation skills during this night time adventure to detect local owls. Part two of the series is the guided owl walk. Feb. 25, Tuesday, 7pm, “The Irish Rovers,” the legendary Irish Rovers return to Orono! These Kings of Celtic have been honored this year as one of Ireland’s greatest exports by EPIC, the Emmigration Museum in Dublin as well as back in their hometown of Ballymena. The Rovers recent album release “The Scottish Album – Up Among the Heather”, reflects the Scottish influence on the band’s Northern Irish roots, while their previous album “The Unicorn, the Continuing Story” gave us the long-awaited sequel to their famed Unicorn song, and a new video that answers the question, “Whatever happened to the Unicorns when the ark left them stranded on the shore?” Fans should fasten their seat belts for a rollicking night of the hits, Rovers latest, and hilarious stories from their years on the road.
