Autumn Hues on the Mountains Surrounding Lovewell Pond, Fryeburg, Maine

It’s Fair Time! Fryeburg Fair time, that is. And lakefront property owners in the Sebago Lakes Region of Maine know that this Blue Ribbon Classic only happens eight days a year.

The gates will open on Sunday at 7 a.m. for the 163rd year of the largest agricultural fair in Maine. Get ready for rides, games, baking contests, demonstrations, skillet toss, pig scrambles, horse, oxen and tractor pulling, woodsmen’s and women’s competitions, harness racing, 4-H exhibits, livestock shows, fiber-arts, and a firemen’s muster. Fireworks are Friday night and the grand parade will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m.

The week is filled with entertainment from strolling musicians to brass bands and wandering minstrels. Main stage entertainment includes the Tony Boffa Band, Diamond Rio, Jana Kramer, Bands of Heather and the March Fourth Marching Band. There is no extra charge for these night shows, which begin at 8 p.m.
Midway rides provide fun for the young and young at heart. With about fifty rides, plus games to test your skill and strength, there’s plenty of lights and music. Unlimited ride wristbands are available from 2-9 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and the final Sunday for $20. Kiddie Land bracelets are $15 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m on opening Sunday and $12 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m on Monday.
And then there’s the fair food. What’s your favorite indulgence? Fried dough, ice cream, burgers, blooming onions, pizza, sausage sandwiches, turkey dinner? You’ll find all of this and plenty more at the Fair.
Vendors offer everything under the sun. Some folks get their Christmas shopping done at the Fair. Others find just the right novelty item for their lakefront home.
General admission is $10 every day and includes the night shows. Children under 12 years old are always free. And on Tuesdays, there is no charge for anyone age 65 and over. Gates open at 7 a.m. and the buildings are open from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Harness racing occurs at 1:30 from Tuesday through Sunday.
Authentic, old-fashioned family fun awaits. Come to the Fair! The Fryeburg Fair.
