Dockside Sports Center Offers Lakefront Property Owners Boat Rentals and More in Rangeley, Maine

Explore Oquossoc Cove on Pristine Rangeley Lake, Maine

Cruise the pristine waters of Rangeley Lake from your lakefront property on a boat rented from Dockside Sports Center in Rangeley.

Rangeley Lake is part of the Rangeley Chain, which also includes Cupsuptic, Mooselookmeguntic, the Richardsons, Kennebago and Umbagog. The area is 99% forest and water. Experience Serenity. Beauty. Wilderness. History.
Dockside Sports Center, on South Shore Road, is headquartered at Sam-O-Set Four Seasons Housekeeping Cabins. The Swain family has operated the cabins and marina for several generations.
Watercraft rentals include fishing boats, motor boats, pontoon boats, canoes, kayaks and jet skis. Tubes, skis, wakeboards and other water toys are also available. The Swains offer a variety of rental opportunities from hourly to weekly. And . . . they’ll deliver your boat. Your classic Maine lakefront property doesn’t even have to be located on Rangeley Lake–they make deliveries within a two hour radius of their location.
For those who don’t want to venture off on your own–take a guided Rangeley Lake tour on a pontoon boat and learn more about the lake, its wildlife and local history. You might glimpse loons, bald eagles, herons, osprey and maybe even a moose.
Dock slip rentals are available from ice out until October 1. Dockside Sports Center features deep water docking that accommodates a range of boats. They also have a boat launch.
Dockside also sells fishing supplies. And, great-grandson of the original owners, Maine Master Guide Shaun Swain, operates Rangeley Lake Guide Service. He’s happy to take you out for a fishing adventure where you’ll troll for feisty landlocked salmon and brookies. At the end of the day, your fisherman’s memory may muddle the numbers and sizes, but you won’t forget the fun you had.
As the major headwater of the Androscoggin River, Rangeley Lake encompasses 6,302 acres. The maximum depth is 149 feet, with a mean depth of 60 feet. Boaters enjoy exploring the 32.7-mile perimeter of the ten-mile-long lake. Though there is some development in the spruce and fir forest that surrounds the lake, there are also plenty of places to get out along the shoreline and poke around.
Water quality testing indicates an above average reading for Rangeley Lake. Fortunately, there are no known invasives, but do continue to check your boat before launching and when you take it out of the lake. Are there any public boat launches on Rangeley Lake? Yes, in addition to the one at Dockside Sports Center, in fact there are three: two off of Route 4 and one at the Rangeley Lake State Park.
Small shops, a few restaurants and a small movie theater line Rangeley’s Main Street. Long a resort destination, the quaint town got its start during the 1800s when rusticators headed north to take advantage of the fresh air and abundant fishing and wildlife hunting.
From your lakefront property in the Rangeley Lakes Region, you can still enjoy the wilder side of Maine where time seems to stand still.
