Sebago Lake To Provide Backdrop of Maine Lakes Brew Fest
by Leigh Macmillen Hayes
Wet your whistle at the
11th annual Maine Lakes Brewfest. Once again,
Point Sebago beach in Casco is the setting for this celebration of American craft beers.
Sponsored by the
Greater Bridgton Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce, the Maine Lakes Brewfest will take place rain or shine on
Saturday, September 27th from 11am-4pm. New this year–a
$5 parking fee, so please carpool. In fact, attendees are encouraged to arrange safe rides to and from the brew fest. Designated drivers must pay $5 for a non-drinking ticket.
Speaking of tix, if purchased before September 24th, the cost is $25. After that and at the gate, it’s $30/person.
Attendees must be 21 or older (that goes for non-drinkers as well).
Bring your ID. And please leave your dog at home.
With the cost of admittance, each beer enthusiast will receive a
commemorative tasting glass and ten drink coupons. You’ll have the opportunity to sample suds from thirty brewers.
Beer fans can sample a large variety from over 30 brewers and vintners. Representatives from various breweries will be available to discuss the history, brewing processes, and subtle nuances of their favorite brews. Local brewers include
Funky Bow, Brays Brewing and Kennebunkport Brewing. Other brewers include Allagash, Baxter, Harpoon, The Run of the Mill, Shipyard and Sebago to name a few. Expect pale ales, IPAs, porters, stouts, wheats, ambers and lagers. By sampling a variety, you can compare various styles of beer and discover what you really enjoy.
Not crazy about beer? Samplings will also include cider and wine.
Blacksmith Winery, Downeast Cider House and Crooked River Meadery will be among those serving their specialties.
Nothing goes better with beer than food and great tunes. Thirteen local food vendors will offer sizzling or savory food for you to enjoy. Live music provided by
Oxford Hills Entertainment will keep your toes tapping.
The Maine Lakes Brewfest provides beer lovers a taste of some of the best local and regional brews, while shining a light on Maine’s microbreweries.
Volunteers pour the beer, brewers explain the key ingredients and vendors offer beer-related merchandise.
Head on over and raise a glass. Grab your friends and make some new ones as you celebrate handcrafted beer in the
beautiful setting beside Sebago Lake.
