“Somerset Snowfest” Somerset

Feb. 20-22, Thursday-Saturday, see site for schedule, “Somerset SnowFest,” a celebration of all things winter! A range of activities including an ice-fishing derby, kite-flying derby, downhill kayak race, winter triathlon, and one of the Northeast’s only equestrian skijoring competition , this is a not-to-be-missed winter festival. Feb. 21, Friday, 12pm, “Jawas Al Fatlawi, Oud: A Tour of Musical Scales,” Colby music instructor Jawad Al Fatlawi performs a solo oud recital that will include improvisation on musical scales, Iraqi-heritage and Andalusian songs, and a number of his original compositions.  Feb. 21-23, Friday-Saturday, 7:30PM, Sunday, 2PM, “The Love Seat,” a two act comedy written by Sam Havens in 2018. Ned is uncomfortable with girls, women, and ladies. He also discovers he has a difficult time with females, too. So, his older brother, Alex, while trying to impress his own girl, tries to help him navigate the dating ritual. Feb. 22, Saturday, 2pm, “Screendance Roadshow,” a special showing of Screendance Roadshow! Feb. 22, Saturday, 5pm, “Unbought,” features the dramatic stories of three African American women played by Tiffany Terrell: Ida B. Wells, journalist and women’s suffrage activist; Sally Hemings, the slave with whom Thomas Jefferson fathered six children; and Shirley Chisholm, the first African American Congresswoman from New York and first African American woman to run for President. The title of the show derives from Shirley Chisholm’s memoir, “Unbought and Unbossed”.
