“Owl Prowl,” Center for Wildlife, Cape Neddick

Feb. 28, Friday, 4:30pm, “Owl Prowl,” the popular Owl Prowl Series is back! This fun event introduces participants to the amazing adaptations of native owls. We’ll meet under our education pavilion to learn about native owl species, their ecology, adaptations, and meet local representatives up close! Following the presentation, we’ll take a short walk into the surrounding habitat to call for owls and listen for whooo might call back, $10/suggested donation, Center for Wildlife, 385 Mountain Road, Cape Neddick. Feb. 29, Saturday, 11am, “Indoor Tour: Love in the Kennebunks,” it’s cold outside – so come in for a tour! Learn about the lives of the Kennebunkers of history on a behind-the-scenes tour through the Museum’s collections storage spaces, with a Valentine’s-themed twist: love stories! 45-minute tour, $10, Brick Store Museum, 117 Main Street, Kennebunk. Feb. 29, Saturday, 1pm, “Winter Tree Walk,” come along on this winter walk to learn about common Maine trees, what they do in the winter, and how to identify species when you can’t use leaves. Led by experienced Reserve docent, naturalist, nature writer, and University of New Hampshire instructor in dendrology Eileen Willard. Please dress to be outdoors for the duration of the program. Feb. 29, Saturday, 1pm, “Baltic Tango with Award Winning Musicians ‘Tutto a Dio’,” award winning Lithuanian ensemble Tutto a Dio comes to Kennebunk with an-hour long program called Baltic Tango. The unusual combination of viola (Greta Staponkute – Rakau) and accordion (Augustinas Rakauskas) is unique in Lithuania, in fact, it is likely to be one of the most uncommon ensembles in the world. They are joined on their current tour by soprano Neringa Radenaite. Their repertoire consists of many different genres from baroque, classical, to tango. Mar. 1, Sunday, 2pm, “Classic Film Series at The Dunaway Center,” Meryl Streep and Robert Redford star in the sweeping romantic drama, “Out of Africa,” filmed on location in East Africa. This 1985 American epic romantic drama film, directed and produced by Sydney Pollack, won the Academy Award for Best Picture, plus 6 additional awards – including Best Cinematography for capturing the breathtaking beauty and expanse of the Kenyan wilderness.
