Feb. 15, Saturday, 10am-12pm, “Native Plants, Your Environment and Seed Balls,” native plants are those that have evolved and adapted to a given location over millennia. Join us for a family-friendly hands-on workshop to learn about native plants. We will cover planting native seeds in pots. We’ll also be making native seed balls – a fun way to gently seed your environs in ways that attempt to mimic nature to help restore beautiful plants that are well adapted to this area. Local seeds and material will be provided to plant a small pot of native seeds or make a small handful of seed balls. This program, led by University of Maine Extension Master Gardener Volunteers Ginger Laurits & Allan Amioka, is part of the All Seasons Garden series brought to the Wells Reserve at Laudholm by York County Master Gardener Volunteers. Feb. 15, Saturday, 11am-1pm, “Three Rivers Land Trust-Great Maine Outdoor Weekend,” Three Rivers Land Trust is putting on a fun family event based at their office in Alfred, which has a sledding hill and a lovely river nearby. Come join us for soup, conversation, and crafts at the office, with the option to enjoy a guided walk (or snowshoe) and sledding (snow dependent) in the field beside the office. Coffee and cocoa will be on offer for this pleasant mid-day meet-up.
