“Fiddle-icious,” McCormack Performing Arts Center, Gorham

Oct. 24, Thursday, 7pm, “Portland Symphony Orchestra with Soprano Alyson Cambridge,” in celebration of the LHE/PAC’s 10th Anniversary, the Portland Symphony Orchestra will be performing a very special concert with Broadway and Metropolitan Opera soprano, Alyson Cambridge. The ‘PSO’ is widely regarded as one of the top symphony orchestras of its size in the country. Led by Music Director, Eckart Preu, the orchestra is comprised of 82 professional musicians from all across New England. In addition to vocalist Alyson Cambridge, the October 24th show will feature guest conductor, Erin Freeman. For over a decade, Alyson Cambridge has performed at some of the world’s most recognized performance venues (Carnegie Hall, Los Angeles Opera, and London’s Royal Albert Hall, to name a few). She is currently starring in “Rocktopia” on Broadway and has sung multiple lead roles with the Metropolitan Opera. Oct. 24, Thursday, 7pm, “Joni and Olivia Hams,” Joni has built a career on two-stepping, toe-tapping shuffles and swing songs. She writes about rodeo, cowboys and the ranch way of living, but says her favorite kind of songs to write are ballads or story songs. Her signature cowboy hat and boots are indeed more than a fashion statement. Harms lives on a century farm in Oregon that was homesteaded by her great, great grandfather Harms in 1872. Joni has earned multiple honors from such notable organizations as the Western Music Association and the Academy of Western Artists. She has also performed on some of the most famous stages, including the Grand Ole Opry and New York City’s Carnegie Hall. Joni continues to tour and do what she loves, saying her journey so far has been absolutely wonderful! Oct. 26, Saturday, 7pm, “Fiddle-icious 2019 Concert,” tap your toes, stomp your feet, clap your hands as Fiddle-icious, a community fiddle-based orchestra with 100+ musicians from Kittery to Augusta, takes the stage to share their unique uplifting music for their 16th season! Fiddle-icious is a fun-loving Maine orchestra playing fiddle, piano, harp, guitar, banjo, mandolin, flute, accordion, cello, tin whistle, concertina, upright bass and bagpipes. Their tunes are passed down from the Irish, Scottish, Quebecois and Acadian traditions and include reels, jigs, marches, hornpipes, waltzes, step-dancing and beautiful singing harmonies.
