Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. The recital comprises works of Eugene Thayer, Dudley Buck, and John Knowles Paine, as well as the first chorale in E major of César Franck. Abraham Ross draws inspiration both from the rich organ repertory and the range of instruments required to perform it, seeking out intersections between artists, philosophies, and societies of the past and those of today. His formative organ studies took place in his hometown of Bangor on the historic 1860 organ by E. & G.G. Hook, an experience that inspired him to take up the instrument as a career. As he transitions from a year-long appointment at Duke University Chapel to Montreal for doctoral studies in organ at McGill, Abe will present a program on the organ where he first studied with Kevin Birch, free, donations appreciated, St. John’s Catholic Church, 207 York Street, Bangor.
