In frustration, she steps in to silence the ring, and discovers that the man, Gordon (William McDonough III) is dead. On impulse, she answers his ringing phone and is instantly pulled into the complicated relationships Gordon has left behind. Jean soon finds herself trying to tie up Gordon’s loose ends with his overbearing mother, Harriet (Claudia Schneider), his neglected wife, Hermia, (Maria Hendricks), his stoic brother, Dwight (Dana Packard), and his mysterious mistress. July 19-20, Friday-Saturday, 8pm, “The Drowsy Chaperone,” when a die-hard theatre fan plays his favorite cast album, the characters come to life in this hilarious musical farce. Winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Book and Best Original Score, The Drowsy Chaperone is a loving send-up of the Jazz Age musical, featuring one show-stopping song and dance number after another. July 20, Saturday, 9am-4pm, “Secret Gardens of Kennebunkport,” eight homeowners have agreed to open their private gardens for this one day only to benefit the local public library. Spend the day strolling through enchanting seaside, backyard, and cottage gardens offering colorful floral displays amid a variety of natural settings. July 21, Sunday, 6:30pm, “Ronan Tynan,” an acclaimed Irish Tenor, largely known for his versatile repertoire. He sang with the Irish Tenors for several years, then started his solo career. Dr. Tynan has performed for four U.S. Presidents including President George H.W. Bush and President George W. Bush, as single-soloist at the Funeral of President Ronald Reagan, and for President Clinton.
