July 4, Thursday, all day events, “Sebec Village Celebrates the 4th,” Sebec Village will host a variety of exciting events on Thursday, July 4 starting with a breakfast at the Sebec Village Christian Church at 7:30 a.m, at 734 Sebec Road. A 5K Road Race takes off at 8 a.m. with a starting line-up just down the hill from the church. The annual parade is at 9:30 a.m. The canoe race launches at 10:30 a.m., and if you are participating be sure to arrive before the parade as logistics can be challenging once the parade has begun. The famous Sebec Chicken BBQ runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 665 Sebec Road. Dine in at the air-conditioned Reading Room or you can take out. Pony Rides and other fun activities will be available on the grounds of the Reading Room. While in the village be sure to purchase tickets for a chance at a hand-made quilt that is being raffled to support the village library. July 5, Friday, 5pm, “Bangor ArtWalk,” during each artwalk night, artists open their studios downtown for visitors to see and chat about their work and work in progress, downtown businesses host art shows and there are hands-on activities like chalking for visitors to participate in, free, Downtown, Bangor. July 5-6 and 10, Friday-Saturday and Wednesday, 8pm/Fri, 2pm and 8pm/Sat, 3pm/Sun, 7pm/Wed, “Mamma Mia!,” as wedding festivities commence on an idyllic Greek island, a young bride-to-be schemes to discover the identity of her father from among three men from her mother’s past. July 10, Wednesday, 7pm, “Bangor Contra Open Band,” provides an opportunity for musicians of all skill levels to gather, jam, grow and perform for a monthly all-ages dance.
