Nov. 15-18, Thursday-Sunday, 4-8pm/Thurs, 10am-8pm/Fri.-Sat, 10am-6pm/Sun, “Anna Shrine-Feztival of Trees,” fully decorated trees donated by organizations and businesses will be displayed throughout the event. The public is invited to come and see this extravaganza of trees, as well as some special displays benefiting the Christmas Theme. A Sign designating the name of your Business or Organization will be prominently displayed with your tree throughout the even. Raffle tickets will be available for sale so that the viewers may enter their tickets in the hopes of winning a beautiful tree. Each tree’s winner gets to take it home, fully decorated and all ready for the holidays. Santa will be here for all hours we are open with your photo of one, to all your family in the photo (donation only for photo). Nov. 15-16, Thursday-Friday, 7pm, “Darrow,” John Burstein revives the role of Clarence Darrow for two performances only, Burstein portrays famous attorney Clarence Darrow, champion of underdogs, as he reminisces about his many sensational and often controversial trials. Written by David Rintels, this inspiring and entertaining production originally starred Henry Fonda on Broadway and was critically acclaimed as “gutsy, exciting, inspiring, funny, beautiful, $15-$25, Penobscot Theatre Company, 51 Main Street, Bangor. Nov. 16, Friday, 2pm, “Legends of the Night Sky: Orion,” take a fun and lighthearted look at the myths and stories associated with the constellation Orion, the great hunter of the winter sky. Join narrators Aesop the owl and Socrates the mouse as we follow Orion’s adventures as he grows to manhood, battles mythical beasts, foils the plot of an evil king and wins the heart of Artemis, the beautiful moon goddess. We learn how the constellation Orion was placed in the sky, forever turning overhead throughout the seasons. Nov. 16, Friday, 7pm, “King Lear-NT Live Broadcast,” Broadcast live from London’s West End, see Ian McKellen’s ‘extraordinarily moving portrayal’ (Independent) of King Lear in cinemas. Chichester Festival Theatre’s production received five-star reviews for its sell-out run, and transfers to the West End for a limited season. Jonathan Munby directs this contemporary retelling of Shakespeare’s tender, violent, moving and shocking play. Considered by many to be the greatest tragedy ever written, King Lear sees two aging fathers – one a King, one his courtier – reject the children who truly love them. Nov. 18, Sunday, 7pm, “Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer & Zakir Hussain,” we welcome banjo legend Béla Fleck for his third time appearance on the CCA stage. He’s joined by tabla genius Zakir Hussain and double-bass master Edgar Meyer for an intricate, conversational performance. As a special treat, they’ll be joined by Rakesh Chaurasia, an Indian flautist, who plays the bansuri, an Indian bamboo flute. Moving between the realms of bluegrass, classical and world music, these friends are widely considered to be the leading virtuosi on their respective instruments, $44-$69, Collins Center for the Arts, 2 Flagstaff Road, Orono.
