“Maine Birds Outdoor Exploration,” Maine Lakes Science Center, Bridgton

Sept. 20, Thursday, 12-4pm, “Maine Birds Outdoor Exploration,” join Maine Audubon, the Maine Forest Service and the Forest Stewards Guild for an afternoon of outdoor exploration and forest assessment at LEA’s Maine Lake Science Center, and the Highland Research Forest in Bridgton. Participants will pair traditional forest management techniques with habitat assessment for Maine’s migratory forest songbirds and discuss options for management in a woodlot that help to increase biodiversity and age-class structure. Forestry for Maine Birds is geared toward foresters, loggers, land owners, land trust folks, and anyone interested in learning about managing woodlands for species biodiversity. This workshop is FREE but space is limited, please register with alanna@leamaine.org. We will meet at the Center at 11:45 and the workshop will begin at 12 pm; please bring a lunch and water and be prepared to be outside. Afterwards, from 5-6, please join us at Bear Bones Beer on Cottage Street in Bridgton to continue the discussion over a pint! Sept. 21, Friday, 8pm, “David Bromberg Quintet,” for Americana godfather David Bromberg, it all began with the blues. His incredible journey spans five-and-a-half decades, and includes-but is not limited to-adventures with Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jerry Garcia, and music and life lessons from seminal blues guitarist Reverend Gary Davis, who claimed the young Bromberg as a son. Sept. 22, Saturday, 7pm, “Erica Brown and the Bluegrass Connection,” Music with a Mission is proud to feature Erica Brown and the Bluegrass Connection for an evening of traditional bluegrass and French Canadian fiddle music. Erica Brown and The Bluegrass Connection is a five-piece band featuring some of the finest musicians in New England. Erica Brown has been performing since the age of nine and has won numerous fiddle contests in New England as well as Canada. Erica brings a special energy and style to the Maine music scene. Jeremy also enjoys telling stories to and having conversations with his audiences during performances and playing song requests on the fly.
