June 22, Friday, 11:30am-6pm, “Celebrate Husson! – Eighth Annual Golf Tournament,” he event will give participants the opportunity to rub elbows with their favorite Husson coaches, former athletes, alumni, friends, and local personalities. Participation in the event will contribute to the Husson athletic experience via the Husson Athletics General Fund. The tournament will be a shotgun start scramble. Ladies will play from the red tees and men from the white tees. Prizes will be award for the first, second and third gross and net team scores! June 23, Saturday, 10am-4pm, “Maine Whoopie Pie Festival,” For one glorious day, festival attendees have the opportunity to sample the whoopie pie in a wide variety of creative flavor combinations and vote for their favorites while strolling beautiful downtown Dover-Foxcroft. But we do know you can’t just eat whoopie pies from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (believe us, we’ve tried), so there are plenty of other things do to at the festival. Start your day off as a spectator or participant at the “Earn Your Whoopie Pie 3K Race/Walk” at 8 a.m., then browse and enjoy the arts, crafts, and foods offered by more than 100 vendors while listening to live music performed in the town center. June 23, Saturday, 6pm, “Mount Hope Cemetery Walking Tour,” Learn little known facts about some of Bangor’s famous—and infamous– residents during our 90-minute guided tour. Hear about the importance of symbolism in the gravestones and get a chance to take in some of the city’s beautiful vistas. Built in 1834, Bangor’s 300 acre Mount Hope Cemetery is the nation’s second oldest garden cemetery. It was designed by renowned architect Charles G. Bryant as part of a national movement to provide respite from grassless urban landscapes. The show explores their music, careers, relationship, and how two different kids from Detroit became international superstars.
