June 8, Friday, 8pm, “Rose Cousins and Mark Erelli,” Rose Cousins, this Canadian folkie is one of Stone Mountains favorites. Her moving voice and stellar songwriting has garnished her a JUNO award and the respect and chatter of many singer songwriters from across the border. Opening for acts like Mary Chapin Carpenter, she continues to gain fans every time she plays. Mark Erelli has won several prestigious awards, including the Kerrville New Folk contest and the International Song Contest. June 10, Sunday, 1pm, “Maine Fare: Foraging and Growing Mushrooms,” join Maine Farmland Trust for the second event in our Maine Fare series. Scott Vlaun, the executive director at the Center for an Ecology-Based Economy in Norway, Maine, will lead a workshop on the basics of the mushroom life cycle, production, and different types of fungi, specifically oyster and shitake mushrooms. Participants will drill, plug and wax their own mushroom log to take home, and learn about log stacking methods, incubation and fruiting.
