Feb. 2, Friday, 7pm, “John Connelly-PaddleQuest 1500, An Expedition to Inspire Outdoor Desire: Linking the Northern Forest Canoe Trail and Maine Island Trail via Canada,” on June 25th, 2016, John Connelly became the first to both canoe the Northern Forest Canoe Trail and kayak the Maine Island Trail, but went a step further connecting them with the Saint John River and Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick, Canada; 15—miles in 75-days. This solo expedition, launced in the Adirondack Mountains on April 16th, proved challenging, rewarding, eye-opening and was tracked in realtime by satellite and followed by thousands online. Feb. 4, Sunday, 2pm and 4:30pm, “Oratorio Chorale,” presents Faure Requiem and Robert Kyr’s The Cloud of Unknowing,” with the DaPonte String Quartet and Grammy-winning soprano Esteli Gomez and Austin-Critic Circle award winner baritone David Farwig. Faure’s Requiem, a reflection on faith in eternal rests, is a masterpiece cherished by audiences for its meditative mood.
