“Vitaly: An Evening of Wonders,” Chocolate Church, Bath

Oct. 5, Thursday, 4pm, “Famed Shipbuilders & Sea Captains of Bath Trolley/Cemetery Tour,” Learn the fascinating history of Bath’s shipbuilding families and of the adventurous lives of some seafaring Bath families, as well. We begin at the Maine Maritime Museum and ride the trolley to one of Bath’s oldest and largest cemeteries for a guided tour with The Lady in the Red Cloak. On the way, we’ll pass many of the homes and mansions of the families we’ll hear about at Oak Grove Cemetery. You’ll also learn of the symbolism of these amazingly crafted memorials, their meanings and interesting facts of cemetery, Learn the fascinating history of Bath’s shipbuilding families and of the adventurous lives of some seafaring Bath families, as well. The Fantasticks is an exquisitely crafted, primal theater ritual; a beloved experience that audiences of all ages come together to share again and again. This simple musical fable of a boy, a girl and the pain of growing up is told by eight actors on a bare wooden stage that is as full of theatrical magic as any in American musical history. Oct. 6, Friday, 7:30pm, “Leopard Girls,” the Leopard Girls will perform their eclectic blend of jazz, rock, blues, and pop music in a benefit concert for the Holocaust and Human Rights Center of Maine, Leopard Girls is a five-piece act from Maine. Chris Simpson, Scott Woodruff, and Gary Lawless – formerly of Jimmy Midnight and The Yurtbirds – make up the band’s front half on guitars, bass, and vocals. Oct. 7, Saturday, 1pm, “Met Opera Live: Bellini’s NORMA,” a new production of Bellini’s masterpiece, starring Radvanovsky as the Druid priestess and Joyce DiDonato as her archrival, Adalgisa-a casting coup for bel canto fans. Tenor Joseph Calleja is Pollione, Norma’s unfaithful lover, and Carlo Rizzi conducts. From bringing pictures and drawings to life to erasing people from their own driver’s licenses, Vitaly’s signature illusions leaves even the most jaded audience awestruck and many of his audience coming back to re-experience his jaw-dropping feats.
