This brand new tribute to the “King of Rock ‘n’ Roll” is the prequel to Tony-winning, record-setting, smash hit Million Dollar Quartet that became the greatest selling show in Ogunquit Playhouse history. This tender story follows Elvis Presley in the early years of his bourgeoning career as he and Sam Phillips create the music that will forever change their lives. Sept. 14, Thursday, 7:30pm, “CJ Chenier and The Red Hot Louisiana Band,” Grammy-nominated, world-renowned musician and recording artist, CJ Chenier has performed with many internationally recognized artists including his legendary father, Clifton Chenier “The King of Zydeco”, Paul Simon, Joe Sample, and The Gin Blossoms. He has been featured on the Jon Stewart Show, CNN, VH1 and Entertainment Weekly. Sept. 15, Friday, 4-10pm, “River Jam: Fringe Fest,” the event kicks off with the launch of the Maine Center for Creativity’s Art All Around installation. From there, community arts organization Engine has helped compile “fringe” events including the local breweries, “street fare” served by the downtown restaurants, participatory art projects, live printmaking, outdoor games, and finally music by soul revival group, Youngerbloods from 7-10 p.m. Also from 5-9 p.m., the community is invited inside the Pepperell Mill Campus to view, “Influx: A Multimedia Installation Event” with work inspired by the past, present and future of the mill as well as the natural elements of the nearby river and ocean. Sept. 15, Friday, 7:30pm, “Songs from the Americas,” Ogunquit Performing Arts presents Andy Happel and his Los Galactacos String Band performing a lively repertoire of songs, from Chile to Canada, Los Galactacos brings together an exotic combination of voice, guitar, violin, cello, dobro, cuatro, upright bass, acoustic bass, guitarron, drums and percussion. Sept. 15, Friday, 8pm, “Peter Cincotti,” Peter Cincotti was anointed by The New York Times at age 18 as ‘one of the most promising singer-pianists of the next generation.’ That same year, his debut album hit the top of the Billboard jazz charts, making him the youngest artist to ever achieve that distinction. Peter has performed in some of the world’s most prestigious venues from Carnegie Hall to L’Olympia in Paris, collaborated with artists ranging from Andrea Bocelli to David Guetta, has been featured in blockbuster films such as Spiderman 2, represented the global fashion brands Ermenegildo Zegna and Tod’s, and just recently appeared as himself in Season 3 of the hit Netflix series House Of Cards, singing a duet with the president played by Kevin Spacey. Sept. 17, Sunday, 3pm, “Bruce Molsky,” one of today’s foremost players of southern American old-time music, will be featured in the first show of the fall season of the “Concerts in West K!” series. Molsky is a self-described “street kid” from the Bronx who bailed on college and big city life to follow his passion for authentic Appalachian mountain music. He moved to Virginia to learn at the feet of the music’s legendary pioneers, old masters who are now long gone. He learned his lessons well; he is now acknowledged as a master musician in his own right, equally accomplished on fiddle, banjo, and guitar.
