Sept. 14, Thursday, 6-8pm, “Bangor Celtic Crossroads Festival,” Jim Counihan’s photos of Ireland. Daryne Rockett performs The Scottish fairytale, “The King of Lochland’s Three Daughters” with harp. Sept. 14-17 and 20, Thursday-Sunday and Wednesday, 7pm/Thurs. and Wed, 8pm/Fri. and Sat, 3pm/Sun, “The Fabulous Liptones,” when a barbershop quartet loses its tenor to a heart-stopping high B flat, the surviving members must scramble to find a replacement before nationals. “Bob” auditions by phone and hits all the right notes, but in person, he is not as expected. This a cappella musical comedy is a timely reminder of the many paths to perfect harmony. Sept. 15, Friday, 7pm, “Sacred Places Concert for the Wildlands,” featuring music inspired by nature and community in our corner of the woods. Musician and Great Pond Mountain Wildlands Steward Shawn Mercer will emcee this one-of-a-kind show featuring the creative work of Brian Estes, Trisha Mason, Stesha Cano, Chris Poulin, Juliane Gardner, and more. The concert is a product of the Songwriting Inspired by Nature Workshop, and with all the artists on stage, discussion, insight, and original music will abound, $10, BMCC, 1287 Bald Mountain Road, North Orland. Sept. 15, Friday, 7:30pm, “Celtic Crossroads Festival: Coig,” Cape Breton, Nova Scotia’s super-group Coìg performs in Bangor. Coìg includes Darren McMullen, who plays guitar, mandolin, mandola, banjo, bouzouki whistle and flute and vocals, Rachel Davis on fiddle and viola and vocals, Jason Roach on piano and Chrissy Crowley on fiddle and viola. Coig was formed after a promotional trip to Maine in 2010 to promote Cape Breton’s “Celtic Colours International Festival”. Sept. 16, Saturday, 7pm, “24-Hour New Play Festival,” Ten Bucks Theatre Company is presenting all new 10-minute plays. In a period of roughly 24 hours, participants have written, rehearsed and performed a series of original plays. The festival is run as a fundraiser for Shaw Auditorium at Comins Hall in Eddington. The hall serves the communities of Eddington and Clifton and many local organizations. Rave reviews from participants and audience members after the last two years’ events include, “an incredible experience,” “beyond amazing,” and “a great joy”! The whole process takes place between 6pm to 10pm on Friday, September 15, and 10am until showtime at 7pm on Saturday, September 16, Comins Hall, near the intersection of routes 46 and 9, Eddington. Sept. 16, Saturday, 7:30pm, “Celtic Crossroads Festival: Matt and Shannon Heaton,” Matt and Shannon Heaton are poised, passionate American performers with Irish roots and universal appeal. Shannon plays Irish flute and Matt plays guitar. Shannon has a beautiful singing voice and enthralls audiences with her warm connection to their audiences.
