Discover the back streets and hidden stories of Hallowell, its mysteries and haunts. June 10, Saturday, 7pm, “Union Coffeehouse presents Stan and Dan,” Stan Keach and Dan Simons are an acoustic duo that plays in the style of the brother duets of the 1930’s and 40’s, a tradition that led to the invention of Bluegrass music. Their performances feature very tight vocal harmony and Dan’s virtuoso mandolin stylings. They demonstrate the applicability of the Brother Duet style to a wide variety of songs from folk and Bluegrass to rock and country genres. The entertaining duo also sings original songs (many of them about Maine topics) written by Stan, a nationally-known Bluegrass songwriter.
