May 27, Saturday, 12:30pm, “The Met: Der Rosenkavalier,” the dream cast of Renée Fleming as the Marschallin and Elīna Garanča as Octavian star in Strauss’s grandest opera. In his new production, Robert Carsen, the director behind the Met’s recent Falstaff, places the action at the end of the Habsburg Empire, underscoring the opera’s subtext of class and conflict against a rich backdrop of gilt and red damask, in a staging that also stars Günther Groissböck as Baron Ochs, $20/adult, $18, Waterville Opera House, 1 Common Street, Waterville. May 28, Sunday, 2pm, “The Art of Harvest,” Heather Rose will show participants how to create an edible work of art. Gain knowledge about a wide variety of botanical beauties throughout the seasons, harvested fresh from local farms and gardens. May 30, Tuesday, 6-8pm, “Paul Bright,” Singing since he was 5, he first performed publicly in second grade. He performed on television and lounges in the greater Boston area, and concerts for the Univ. of Mass., Eastern College Placement Officers, The Norlands, and social and philanthropic groups. He performs yearly in the Myrtle Beach, SC area, Ontario and Maine. He sings a variety of pop, standard, country, folk and Christian music. Self-taught, Paul is considered to be an excellent finger-style rhythm guitarist.
