Mar. 10-11, Friday-Saturday, 7:30pm, “Pump Boys & Dinettes,” a down-home musical full of country fun, welcome to the Double Cupp Diner, way down on Highway 57 between Frog Level and Smyrna, where the pie is fresh, and the waitresses are like the coffee – hot! The boys from the gas station next door play a high-octane blend of country and bluegrass packed with entertaining toe-tappers about life, love, and good times. Mar. 10-11, Friday-Saturday, 7:30pm, “Exchange Street,” sunrise to sunset in Portland, Maine. Like many picturesque old port towns, it grapples with very real, modern issues. EXCHANGE STREET zeroes in on hot summer day at the intersection of Exchange and Middle Streets. From six in the morning to midnight, we get a glimpse into the lives of the residents of this busy block told in a series of seven stories. A sampling of stories from Exchange Street include: Tales from the Zoo: Sammy, who lost his wife a few years earlier, comforts himself with the company of two old friends at the local Starbucks at daybreak. No Stopping 8 am to 6 pm: Emma, in trouble at school, has to bring her single mom to the principal’s office. While sparks fly between the two, help comes from an unexpected source. Bobby Darin’s Got Nothin’ on Me: Even though his wife is seriously ill, Sal still has to open his hot dog stand and commiserates with an old war buddy. Mickey and Maude at the Movies: A college professor’s lighthearted date with her boyfriend from the mailroom takes on new meaning when the head of her department sees them together. Mar. 11, Saturday, 6:30pm, “The Stillson School of Irish Dance,” the award-winning Stillson dancers, returning to Ogunquit by popular demand, will perform a brilliant array of jigs and reels, dressed in a variety of dazzling, hand-made costumes. The performance will consist of both the fluid soft shoe style as well as the rhythmic hard shoe popularized by shows such as Riverdance and Lord of the Dance. At the end of the performance, the dancers will invite children and the young at heart to join them onstage to learn or try out some steps. Mar. 12, Sunday, 7pm, “Eastern Trail Full Moon Walk,” meet the group at the rear of the Southern Maine Health Center parking lot in Biddeford. Learn about the plants, trees and wildlife along the trail. Learn about the Eastern Trail, the “Full WORM Moon” and engage in fun discussions about the great outdoors.
