Feb. 18, Saturday, 11am-12pm, “Maine State Museum Presents: Rick Adam as Professor Paddy-Whack and his One Man Junk Band,” a continuous collage of entertainment, including hand shadows, musical saw, juggling, magic, hat tricks, laugh riot comedy skits, marvelous object manipulation, and the most intricate and entertaining one-man band you ever saw! Rick Adam has been performing, teaching, and inspiring people of all ages for over 20 years. He has combined his extensive theatrical and musical experience and training with his own life experience to create original theatrical performances that both educate and entertain. From the torment of the Hundred Years’ War, the charismatic Joan of Arc carved a victory that defined France. Bernard Shaw’s classic play depicts a woman with all the instinct, zeal and transforming power of a revolutionary. Feb. 18, Saturday, 7:30pm, “Steve Jones,” for a guy who keeps such a low profile (he does not have a web site and only recently bought a cell phone), Steve Jones is one of Maine’s best known band leaders and musicians, and throughout his 20+ year career, he has played with practically everyone on the Maine music scene. In addition to fronting his own band, he still plays guitar and sings in The Boneheads, one of Northern New England’s’s most beloved roots-rock bands. Feb. 20, Monday, 8:15pm, “Harlow Gallery benefit Concert,” Katie Daggett of Slates describes the evening of music as follows: “We have a great night of music planned for this benefit concert for our long-time neighbors, the Harlow Gallery. Singer/Songwriter Anna Pillsbury will start off the evening performing songs from her upcoming EP Anna’s songs draw inspiration from folk and pop genres and give listeners an authentic snapshot into her life while showcasing her honesty and playful sense of humor. For the second part of the evening local musicians/poets gather to pay tribute to the music of the late, great Leonard Cohen. Jacob Allen, Robby Coffin, Katie Daggett, Marcia Gallagher, Bruce Mayo, to name a few, will perform their Leonard Cohen favorites.
