Dec. 1, Thursday, 6pm, “Holiday Ornament Decorating,” Kick off your Prelude Holiday with a social and creative evening at River Tree Arts. Instruction and fun ornament craft ideas will be provided as you make your own beaded snowflakes and decorate glass ornaments. Dec. 1, Thursday, 7pm, “Song of the Seasons,” an evening of holiday songs, featuring faculty and student performers entertaining the audience with traditional songs of the season. Dec. 3, Saturday, 8:30am-2:30pm, “Bar Mills Community Church Christmas Marketplace,” Come checkout all of the handmade items and homemade jellies and baked goods that the Women’s Group have been working on all year. There is something for everyone on your shopping list. After you are done shopping sit and relax and enjoy a delicious homemade lunch. Lunch will be served at 11:30am. Dec. 3, Saturday, 10am-3pm , “Christmas Fair,” The fair will include a silent auction that offers Disney World tickets, an autographed Red Sox baseball, theater tickets, and gift cards for groceries, sports, restaurants, and a variety of other gift cards. For sale will be fresh poinsettias and gorgeous 22 inch Maine wreaths. These are local and beautiful decorations and you will want to stock up. Supplies of both are limited so make sure you come early to get as many as you want. Just in time for early Christmas shopping this is the perfect opportunity to find just the right something – something for everyone. Items for sale will run the gamut of yummy baked goods again featuring Bobbie’s Bodacious Baked Beans, a $1 Table, a Baby Table, a “New to You” Table, hand-made crafts, a 12’ Christmas Tree, Christmas decorations, attic treasures, books and other items too numerous to name. Dec. 4, Sunday, 2:30pm, “Seaglass Peforming Arts Holiday Concert: A Celtic Christmas,” The chorale will be joined by Regina Delaney on Irish Harp and Ryan J. Thomson and his son Brennish on fiddle. The concert will include sacred and secular selections as well as a celebration of the Winter Solstice (which was seen as one of the most significant times of the year by the Celts). Dec. 4, Sunday, 3pm, “Merry TubaChristmas,” The historic Merry TubaChristmas event was created by musician Harvey Phillips and debuted in 1974 at New York City’s Rockefeller Center to highlight the warm, rich music of tuba and euphonium players at Christmastime, and also to honor the late great tubist William J. Bell. Since that time, spontaneous community ensembles of local musicians of all ages gather to play traditional Christmas carols together. The unique concerts have been showcased in more than 290 citiies nationally and worldwide. This will be the first time this proud brass tradition will be featured in Kennebunkport. On the day of the concert the public is welcome to attend a buffet breakfast with Mrs. Claus from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Musicians will then register at 1 p.m. (there is a $10 registration fee and includes a commemorative button.) Rehearsal will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. before the concert starts in the Ballroom at 3 p.m, free, The Nonantum Resort, 95 Ocean Avenue, Kennebunkport. Dec. 4, Sunday, 3pm, “Portland Ballet in Excerpts from ‘The Victorian Nutcracker,’” presentation of dancers from the Portland Ballet in an entrancing program featuring excerpts from “The Victorian Nutcracker”, the company’s magical production of Tchaikovsky’s most popular holiday ballet. Children are welcome, and will be invited onstage to dance with the dancers following the program.
