Nov. 10, Thursday, 5:30pm, “Songs from the Logging Camps,” Songs From the Logging Camps of Northern New England, New Brunswick Ontario, Minnesota, and Wisconsin that migrated from Ireland. Sara Grey is an American singer, banjo player and song collector, who is immersed in the song traditions of both sides of the Atlantic. She now lives in Rockland, ME. Her passionate interest is to maintain and strengthen the links between Celtic and American culture. Brian Miller, born in Bemidji, MN is one of the most sought-after musicians in the North American Irish music scene. Nov. 10, Thursday, 7pm, “Jeff Coffin Capstone Concert,” Grammy award winning saxophonist Jeff Coffin will perform with the Brewer High School Jazz Band and Brewer Community Jazz Band. Before he heads overseas, his managers randomly pick a girl from his fan club to serenade and kiss on the Ed Sullivan Show for his grand goodbye. When Birdie chooses Kim MacAfee, a 15-year-old from Sweet Apple, Ohio, he shakes, rattles and rolls the town and hilarity ensues! They are particularly noted for their performances of centuries-old ballads accompanied by scrolling quilts telling the story of the song as it is being sung.
